Approvals↑

This guide shows you how to manage Approval Rules, Approval Groups, and Approval Requests from the CAEPE account. You can access Approvals from the CAEPE Management > Approvals menu item.

The Approvals feature allows for the creation of deployment approval rules. Deployment Approval Rules can be set up based on cluster(s), application(s) or existing Deployment(s). These rules require an approval from a defined set of users in an associated Approver Group. Any user in an Approver Group can either approve or reject the pending deployment Approval Requests, giving teams a clear audit trail and keeping releases aligned with change-management and compliance policies.

Viewing approval rules↑

You can see the approval rules associated with your account in the center of the page by clicking the Approval Rules tab, which is pre-selected by default.

You can switch the view between a "list" and "grid" view and filter the approval rules by clicking the Filters button. You can filter by approval rule, resource restriction, and approval group.

Each entry shows the current status of the approval rule. Click the pencil icon to edit the rule and the wastebasket icon to delete it.

Approval rule details↑

Click the View Rule link next to any approval rule to see an overview of its details. You can also edit and delete the approval rule from within the details page.

Create an approval rule↑

Create an approval rule by clicking the Approval Rule button.

In the form that appears, set the approval rule name and select the approval group and approval retry.

Select the rule options for rule type, resource restrictions, and resource name:

• Rule type
  • Deployment (only option at present)
• Resource restrictions
  • Deployment
  • Application/Application group
  • Cluster/Cluster group
• Resource name: You have the option to either place a deployment approval rule on ‘Any’ application, cluster or deployment or you can apply to the rule to a specific named application, cluster or deployment.

You can see the approval groups associated with your account in the center of the page by clicking the Approval Groups tab.

You can switch between a "list" and "grid" view and filter the approval groups by clicking the Filters button. You can filter by approval group name and creator.

Each entry shows the current information for the approval group. Click the pencil icon to edit the group and the wastebasket icon to delete it.

Click the View Group link next to any approval group to see its details. You can also edit and delete the approval group from the details page.

Create an approval group↑

A user in an Approver Group must have either Admin or Approvals read/write permissions.

Create an approval group by clicking the Approval Group button.

In the form that appears, set the approval group name, select users, and create the approval group.

Viewing approval requests↑

You can see the approval requests associated with your account in the center of the page by clicking the Approval Requests tab.

Each entry shows the current status of the approval request.

If you are a member of the approval group, click the View Request button to view, approve, or reject the a pending approval request. Once a request has been approved or rejected, no further action can be taken on that request. Only one approver from the group is required to approve or reject the request.

The action (create, edit or delete) on the target of the approval request will not be performed until the approval request is approved. If the approval request is rejected
